I have read many books on the subject of prayer, but this book is by far the best. I keep returning to the first section, written by Anthony Bloom, an Orthodox Bishop, over and over and over again. The second half of the book, written by Benedictine monk, George LeFebvre, is very moving but more elementary. I highly recommend Courage to s: 4. Jennifer Waddle considers herself a Kansas girl, married to a Colorado hunk, with a heart to encourage women everywhere. She is the author of several books, including Prayer WORRIER: Turning Every Worry into Powerful Prayer, and is a regular contributor for LifeWay, Crosswalk, Abide, and Christians Care International.

The Serenity Prayer is a prayer written by the American theologian Reinhold Niebuhr. It is commonly quoted as: God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference. Niebuhr's prayer originally asked for courage first, and specifically for changing things that must be changed, not things that simply can be changed: Father, .   The book is in depth and does challenge ones walk with Jesus and how each of us prays unto God the Father. One must be in the right frame of mind as it weight of the subject and the teachings with in its pages. Caught me at the right time. By Matthew Foutch on Book Edition: 1st.

Courage to Pray by Anthony Bloom, , available at Book Depository with free delivery worldwide/5(52). The subject of prayer is explored as an essential element of self-awareness. The discovery of prayer, faith, love and man's relationship with God gives us hope and courage to pray.

Courage to Pray, by Anthony Bloom and George Lefebvre is quite good in my estimation. The first part, written by Anthony Bloom reads like a devotional with an emphasis on prayer as a way to theosis, or divinization (a concept which intrigues me in that is it similar to the Catholic idea of union with God, and in my view similar to realization or enlightenment).5/5(4).

The first book is The Courage to Pray by Met. Anthony. The second book is Lord Stay With Us by Benedictine Monk Georges LeFebvre.

Both are short - about pages each. I haven't read the 2nd one yet and don't know that I will because I'd rather find another book on prayer by Met/5.

The discovery of prayer, man's realtionship with God is what gives us hope and courage to pray. The subject of prayer is explored as an essential element of self-awarness/5(10).

Brownson doesn’t intend this book to be merely a call to prayer. Rather, his purpose is to inspire courage to pray, to leave us saying “I think I can do that. I can learn to pray.” He grips us with the importance of prayer, excites us about its possibilities and encourages us to invest ourselves in regular, purposeful prayer.

Courage to Pray is not a "how-to" book on prayer, but an encouragement to pray, based on what God tells people about himself in the Bible.5/5. The discovery of prayer, of man's relationship with God and the world, of faith and love, is what gives human beings hope and courage to pray.

This little book points to that discovery as a guide for those who wish to end their isolation and enter into communion with the Infinite. The discovery of prayer, of man’s relationship with God and the world, of faith and love, is what gives human beings hope and courage to pray.

To learn God's name is to know His person. To call on His name is. This book has you searching your heart and asking yourself, “Do I WILL to do Father’s will!?!” Then there’s the marvelous conclusion that all of this, the prayer to be like Jesus, making the hard choices to be like Him-obedient to the Father’s will, it all leads to peace and joy that is a state of being dependent on faith and trust in God, NOT outward circumstances.5/5(11).

Book of Mormon Principles: Shunning Satan’s Snares. Joseph T. Hicken. Finding Freedom. Feast upon the Words of Christ. He had always had the desire to pray but had never found the courage. Finally, he resolved to do it, even though he didn’t know exactly what he would say in his prayer.
